Editorial Comments on Vol 1 No 1 (2019): Maiden Edition of NAPAS

It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the editorial board, to extend to you a very warm welcome to the maiden edition of Nigerian Annals of Pure and Applied Sciences (NAPAS).

It is gratifying to note and to inform our readers, esteem authors, and reviewers that there is a slight rebranding and change in our journal name to read; Nigerian Annals of Pure and Applied Sciences (NAPAS), formerly known as Nigerian Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences (NJPAS). I, however, wish to assure our authors that this change will not have any negative effect on their published work.

The world of scholarly publishing is highly dynamic, therefore, for us to continue to stay afloat and to serve our authors and readers better; we must constantly review our policies and decisions in line with evolving trends. I, therefore, wish to express my sincere appreciation to the distinguished members of our journal Editorial and Advisory Board for their tremendous action-oriented effort that has given our journal this new lease of life.

As part of these renewed efforts, the journal now has a full online presence in addition to the print version and the official journal website is now http://napas.org.ng.

Being discoverable is critical to our authors, so we understand that being indexed by as many global Abstracting and Indexing databases as possible ensure their research gets the visibility and global exposure it deserves. The journal is currently before many of the reputable agencies for indexing consideration.

We are working hard to ensure that NAPAS is soon indexed by the following global Abstracting and Indexing databases: Google Scholar, PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Europe PMC, Biological Abstracts, BIOSIS Previews, HINARI, Microsoft Academic Search etc.

We are also fully aware of the newer ways and formats that people find and cite new research today, and as such, journal's publications must be machine-readable in multiple formats, we, therefore, have to present the work of our authors in the appropriate online formats such as in PDF and HTML. In parallel to indexing services, we are also working on long term archiving strategy for NAPAS articles. Very soon our articles will also be assigned DOI numbers and URL. Our Authors can now rest assured that their research will be archived for future generations no matter what happens to NAPAS.

We also hope, with these new arrangements, to continue to monitor and provide our authors with information on how their works are been cited by the global research community via impact factor. These ways, our authors can be sure their work will be indexed globally, fully discoverable and permanently archived.

Finally, let me inform our authors that they can now make submissions online here at http://napas.org.ng or send their manuscripts attached to editor.napas@gmail.com. We now operate a full online editorial process, where authors can submit and monitor their submission through the review process to publication.

Online submission is the preferred option as it is the current global best practice, it affords the author a number of learning opportunities, submission of the ORCID identification number (for onward integration into the global community of researchers) and also makes the review process of author's work much faster.

Authors can freely download their published articles by clicking on the "PDF Download" link below or view the Abstract of any of the manuscripts by clicking on the title of the manuscripts listed here.

Feel free to contact us via our contact page for any assistance.
